Hawes Village

The thriving market town of Hawes is home to Wensleydale Cheese and the renowned Dales Countryside Museum. With many craft workshops, antique and speciality shops and restaurants on offer, and the pretty dales of Swaledale, Cotterdale, Dentdale, Garsdale, Wharfedale and Chapel-le-Dale nearby, it's the perfect base for a short break in the Yorkshire Dales.

You can also discover the 18th Century water-powered cotton spinning Gayle Mill. Converted to sawmill and electricity generation with original working Victorian turbines, lineshafting and woodworking machinery.
